Gillingham Anchorians 0 - Crawley 7

CRAWLEY made their promotion deciding game against Sutton Valence this Saturday a whole lot easier by thrashing Gillingham last weekend.

The visitors were without left back Kev Hemmings and striker Stuart Donaldson so second XI replacements Priyash Patel and Theo Hillman were called up.

Crawley started the match strongly, pinning Gillingham in their own half and forcing them to make mistakes.

The work rate from the forwards Danny Evans, Rob Gate, and Steve Innes was unquestionable as they were making tackles all over the park and stopping the home side using their width.

The first goal came within two minutes with a fantastic run behind the defence and a ball across goal by James Innes was seen home by Gate who always seems to be in the right place at the right time this season.

Crawley gained more confidence and the goals came flooding with Kieran Fuller and Steve Innes also converting.

In the heat, Crawley could have lost concentration but they showed no signs of this and were extremely professional.

Goals from Ken Stuart and Fuller saw Crawley cruising until the umpire gave a harsh penalty against them which Gary Thornton saved, before keeping out another penalty shortly after.

Crawley were then awarded a penalty themselves and Jamie Westwood buried it home in style before Steve Innes capped off the win with the visitors' seventh goal.

Crawley, the league leaders, now host second-placed Sutton Valence at Hazelwick School on Saturday knowing that a victory will see them crowned champions.
