#Congratulations to the 8 Juniors through to Sussex Academy

We started the season with a good group of players, some from the previous season, others just starting and a group moving up from the junior section.

So, we started needing to develop players to move up into the adult section of the club as well as establishing a solid team for the season.

The first match was a draw but a good start.

Moving on from there the team has had a varied set of results with some convincing wins against historically strong opposition teams.

Even with the challenges due to the pitch being upgraded we have had a consistent number of players coming along to midweek training, which has led to being able to send players up in the club both to the ladies and the men’s teams.

At the halfway mark in the season we have around 18 players to select the team from each week with some very promising players coming through.

This year we put forward 11 players to the Sussex Development Centres to be considered for the Sussex teams. Of these 8 have made it through to the Sussex Academy:
u15 boys

  • James Cordery,
  • Luc Capdevila,
  • Sam Capdevila

u17 boys:
  • Mattie Fish,
  • Reuben Crawford,
  • Elliott HooleyJones,
  • Lewis Cordingley.

Girls u17:
  • Ella Crawford.

The Juniors last game before the Christmas break was a solid 6-2 win over Mid Sussex on the new pitch.

The top goal scorers during the games so far are James Cordery, Sam Capdevila, Zac Risby and Danny Cordingley, with a few added by other players.
Our consistent goalies have been Ashton Andrews and Nathan Peters.

We are looking forward to the second half of the season with great optimism, especially with more space on the new pitch for midweek training and a decent number of young players coming through to play their first few matches for the team.

We wish you all a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you all for your support each week.
