Men's 1st XI begin life in the next tier of England Hockey Knockout competitions with an away trip to Guernsey on Sunday 18th October

"...the team will be playing on Sunday 18th October at Foots Hill in Guernsey and will be taking a return flight from Gatwick Airport on the day."
- Alex Watson, Men's 1st XI Captain

Following on from their successful run in the EH Vase, only to be beaten in the final on penalty strokes last season, the M1s have entered the EH Trophy for the first time in the club's history.

Promotion last season meant that the team are now placed too high in the national league structure to be able to compete in the EH Vase again and so have entered the next tier of EH knockout competitions, the EH Trophy. The first round draw was made last week with our boys being drawn away against Guernsey. The opposition are no strangers to the Trophy having won in 2013/14 and losing out in the final last season, also on penalty strokes. It is certain to prove to be a tough game for the M1s.

For the past 3 seasons the M1s have entered the EH Cup (which is open to all 1st XI teams throughout the country) but have been defeated by National League sides each year (2013/14 lost 8-0 away vs Havant, 2014/15 lost 5-2 away vs Indian Gymkhana, 2015/16 lost 11-1 away vs Teddington).

The trip to Guernsey will be an experience to many of the players as it will be their first ever trip to the Channel Islands. Full details of the fixture are to be confirmed but the team will be playing on Sunday 18th October at Foots Hill in Guernsey and will be taking a return flight from Gatwick Airport on the day.

If you would like to join the M1s on the island for the fixture they will be travelling from Gatwick airport on the 8.30am Aurigny flight out and the 6pm flight back.
