# Round 1 cup exit #Goals from Fuller x 2 & Banton

Report by Steve Innes

After a tough away day Saturday Crawley travelled to Lewes for an enthralling Sunday cup game.

This game was one for the neutral fans seeing 9 goals

Crawley took the lead almost instantly with Fuller scoring a perfectly placed reverse strike into the bottom corner.
Lewes then replied themselves with two excellent finishes to take the lead.

2-1 and the game had only been going for 10 minutes.

Crawley saw a few chances wasted, the best falling to Elliot Holley-Jones who nicked the ball off a defender and proceeded to take on the whole Lewes defence on his own and with excellent skill managed to find himself in front of the Keeper and nothing in-between, Eliot went for the top corner but unfortunately missed by an inch.

The game continued in this fashion and the half ended 3-1 to Lewes as the managed to finish off another fine move with a deflection.

Crawley took half time to regain composure and discuss Reece Banton’s eyeliner from the night before. Fired up by the inspirational half time chat Crawley game out all guns blazing and scored two excellent goals in the first 10 mins of the second half when Kieran Fuller and then Reece Banton showed some calmness in the area to score a couple of half volleys.

3-3 and Crawley on a high created chance after chance but found the Lewes keeper in fine form saving everything, including a double save with his stick then helmet.

Crawley taking the game to Lewes left gaps at the back and with some quick passes they found themselves with an overload situation to score an easy goal.

Luke Murphy in the Crawley goal had been in good form to stop a number of Lewes chances but nothing he could do about that one or the following Lewes goals, tired legs from Crawley saw them concede two further late goals.

A great game played in good spirts and well deserved victory for Lewes who we wish the best of luck for the next round.
