Crawley Mens 1's 2-vs 5 Sevenoaks Mens 2's

Crawley were looking to extend last weeks good form but came up short against a Sevenoaks side who took their chances well in difficult conditions. Crawley always seem to struggle against a well organised sevenoaks side which place simple pass and move hockey.

It was the visitors who raced into an early lead through a couple of well taken goals and Crawley errors the home side quickly found themselves in trouble and with a 3-0 deficit to try to over turn again but they could not quite get themselves back into the game with both missed chances and inspired goal keeping from former East Grinstead No1 Potton in excellent form. Crawley managed to get a foothold back in the game as Carl Wright robbed the Sevenoaks center back and found himself in on goal and slid the ball under the on rushing keeper. Crawleys total could of been increased but Rob Gate and then James Innes didn't quite have the final finish from close range to beat the keeper.
It was Sevenoaks that managed to extend their lead with a couple of quick fire goals to make it 5-1 but try as they might Crawley could not for what ever reason manage to get the ball into the sevenoaks goal. Crawley made plenty of inroads down the right through Mom Maccaoilte who looked to have the beating of not only his man but also the oaks left back too seemingly running past him when ever he felt like it. Crawley didnt manage to trouble the scorers again until right at the very end as some close one touch play allowed Fuller to find Seb Watson to slide the ball under the keeper to make it 5-2 but it was to be too little too late.

Captain Alex Watson said"It was disappointing today we started poorly again and let them dictate and dominate the play in the early stages and with the conditions and opposition both difficult to content with we found it hard to get back into the game. We had a couple of very good chances in the first half and if those had gone in that would have got us right back into it. But we know we must do better than that and in what is shaping up to be a very open league we have started well but just a couple of results have got away from us and we need to put that right and start making sure we take our chances and keep putting points on the board".
