1s Skipper Brendan MacCaoilte recalls that after getting relegated from the regional league last year Crawley 1st XI were determined to regroup and gain promotion back into a league they know they can perform well in. They employed a new coach Ross Stott who plays for East Grinstead 1st team and has represented Scotland so brought some great insight and experience.

The goal for the season was to gain promotion back into the regional league and if possible win the league outright, a big ask but a realistic one.

The league was extremely tight at the top with a constant battle with Eastbourne for the top spot to win the league, eventually it all game down to the last game of the season. Crawley and Eastbourne were level on points going in to the final game so it was going to be decided on goal difference!

The final day saw Eastbourne play in the early game securing an impressive 8-1 win against Lewes. This meant that Crawley needed to beat Worthing by at least 4 goals. A huge effort from the team secured an 8-0 victory and the league title!

Crawley managed to go all season only losing 2 league games, scoring an impressive 122 goals whilst only conceding 34! A special mention to Kieran Fuller who personally scored 43 league goals!

We look forward to next season and hope to recreate the success of this year!
